Massage course heading for Wingham

16 Mar, 2010 11:30 AM
BACK pain?

Sports injuries?

Restricted movement?

Not to worry Wingham residents, the Emmett technique is coming to town.

EmmTech Australia will host an easy muscle management short course in Wingham next month.

The central theme of the course will be the Emmet technique – a relatively new type of soft tissue muscle release technique developed by Queensland massage therapist Ross Emmett.

The short course will be held at the Wingham Citizens Centre in Primrose Street on Saturday April 24 from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

The course is aimed at sports coaches, aged and disability carers, or anyone interested in learning more about massage.

Local masseuse Craig Harrison is one of a growing number of people who are utilising the benefits of this technique. Craig hopes that a strong response to next month’s course will provide a base for more natural therapy and massage courses to come to Wingham in the near future.

“Emmett is about quick results,” Craig said. “People are after fast cures these days, which is something Emmett can deliver.

“I’ve seen people with years of neck problems make a marked improvement in just one session. To see such great results is always rewarding for me too.”

The Emmett technique involves applying light pressure at particular points and sequences that enable the gentle physical release of muscle groups.

Emmett helps back and shoulder pain, neck stiffness, breathing difficulties, cramps and swelling, knee problems, balance, plus grip and forearm problems. It is also used for sports injuries and pain relief for cancer patients.

The short-course will be run under the guidance of the NSW, ACT & Victorian co-ordinator of EmmTech, Rick Cuthbert. Rick is trained in Reiki, Bowen Therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Touch For Health level one as well as the Emmett Technique.

“The (short course) is basically an introduction to Emmett,” Craig said. “People will get a grasp of what Emmett is about and will have enough information to pursue their interests.”

The short course costs $220 and will include a training DVD.

You need to RSVP to Craig Harrison at Wingham Remedial Massage by Thursday April 8. Phone Craig on 6553 5234 or email cuthbert.rick@gmail.com to book your place.
