WINGHAM High School students were out cleaning up the community last week as part of the nation’s Clean Up Australia Day activities.
Students patrolled Wingham Central Park, Isabella Street and the surrounding areas on Friday eliminating any rubbish they encountered.
Teams of kids also remained back at the school to help clean the playground and sporting fields.
The mass rubbish collection was an intitiative of Wingham High’s student representative council, with school captain and group spokesperson Tenika Vakauta pleased with the response she received.
“It’s great to see students out there doing their bit,” she said. “All of these guys have volunteered their time and they deserve to be commended.”
