Preparations are well underway for one of the town’s most popular family events – the Wingham Christmas Street Carnival.
The event, run by the Wingham Chamber of Commerce, will be held in the central business district on Thursday, December 10.
A carnival atmosphere will fill Central Park with thrilling rides and attractions coming to town.
The event begins at 5pm and the Wingham Services Club Pipes and Drums will play at 6pm.
Prime Possum will be a special guest at 6.30pm; then at 7.30pm, the big fella in the red suit – the one and only Santa Claus – will arrive with his sack of treats.
Chocolate wheels will run for most of the evening with many chances to win Christmas hams and other goodies.
The finale will be the shopper docket lucky draw at 8.30pm where locals will have the chance to win up to $600 in prizes.
Be on the look out for the shopper dockets, which are being delivered to Wingham shops this week.
Local charities will provide the food for the night so there is no need to cook. Just turn up and enjoy the carnival.
There will also be displays and stalls selling showbags, calendars, handmade crafts and Christmas gifts.
The Taree Quota Club will erect an international nativity scene in Bent Street which is not to be missed.
“We are very pleased to run this annual event,” Chamber of Commerce president Janeece Irving said.
“It is an opportunity for families to spend time together and celebrate the festivities, whilst supporting their local charities.”
