The fun-filled celebration will take place at the Wingham Services Club from 7.30pm on Saturday September 4.

This year organisers have been fortunate in attracting retired beauty queen and lady-at-large, Miss Delta Dawn, to officiate at the ceremony.

A celebrated exponent of the Texas Dip style of debutante curtsey, Miss Dawn has graciously agreed to demonstrate some American-style variations on our traditional ladysports.

Prizes will be given for the most well-bred handbag, best debutante curtsey, and most distinguished coiffure, and to all those ladies who win renown in the select sports of the lady. The festivities will as always culminate with the crowning of the lady of the evening.

In honour of Miss Dawn's attendance, organisers have decided this year to crown a junior miss lady of the evening. Aspiring ladies from the ages of ten and up are hereby invited to make their debut in the field of ladysports.

That distinguished mistress of ceremonies, Ms Bronwyn Wallace, will preside over the evening, and glamorous doyenne about town, Mrs Isobel Greene, will again lead an eminent panel of judges.

Organisers ask ladies to bring themselves, their best racing stilettos, and a plate of something suitably refined to share for supper (anything in aspic or featuring toothpicks should do it).

Please note, ladies are requested to attend in evening dress, and of course gloves, hats and clean white handkerchiefs are the minimum standard of accessory expected in a lady.

The entry fee will require little more than a generous donation to the Hamlin Fistula Trust. All donations are tax deductible.

Last year the group raised more than $800 and also posted out 40 pairs of knickers to the hospital in Addis Abiba. This year they hope to do even better. A light supper will be served and mocktails will be available from the bar.
